An Update on My Practice and Looking Ahead to 2026
From time to time, it’s important to step back and share where things are heading, especially when trust, relationships, and long-term planning are involved.
I want to offer an update about my Money Architect Financial Planning practice and how I’m preparing for a careful, well-supported transition over the next year.
Looking Ahead
I currently plan to retire from my financial planning practice toward the end of 2026. While that date is still some distance away, I believe it’s important to communicate clearly and well in advance, rather than leaving people guessing or feeling rushed.
Between now and then, my focus remains on serving existing client relationships faithfully and ensuring that any transitions are handled thoughtfully and with care.
What This Means in Practical Terms
I will continue to meet with existing clients and complete any review meetings that are already planned or reasonably expected through 2026, consistent with current arrangements.
What I will not be doing going forward is taking on new financial planning engagements or developing entirely new financial plans on my own. As plans evolve or new planning needs arise, that work will increasingly be handled by a trusted colleague with whom I am already collaborating.
Introducing David Field (Papyrus Planning)
Dave Field, CFP®, TEP, of Papyrus Planning, is an experienced planner whose approach aligns closely with mine, both technically and philosophically. As I prepare for retirement, working alongside a trusted colleague allows me, where appropriate and where it proves helpful, to support continuity and care for existing client relationships during this transition.
Collaborating in this way ensures that any ongoing planning needs can be addressed thoughtfully, while respecting the pace and preferences of each client. This is one part of how I am preparing for a smooth and responsible step back from active practice.
Planning tools and ongoing support
For those who continue working with Dave, he offers planning support through Money Answers, a subscription-based service designed to provide continuity and accessibility. This includes access to the Adviice planning platform, up to two review meetings per year, and ongoing support for questions, plan interpretation, and use of the software, along with periodic communications and updates.
If more extensive planning work or significant plan updates are needed, those would be handled separately, with any additional fees taking the ongoing subscription relationship into account.
For those who prefer to manage their planning independently for a period of time, it is also possible to continue using the Adviice planning software in a self-directed format, without being connected to a specific planner. This remains an available option, and you are welcome to discuss what might make the most sense for you, or to make that decision on your own.
Website changes and referrals
Sometime in early 2026, the MoneyArchitect.ca website will begin redirecting prospective clients to Dave’s services at Papyrus Planning and/or Money Answers. The blog may continue in some form, though the details are still being worked out.
Final thoughts
Changes like this naturally raise questions, and I want to emphasize that my aim throughout this process is continuity, clarity, and care. I am taking a gradual approach precisely so that people are not rushed and have time to consider what makes the most sense for them.
I will continue to share updates as plans become more fully developed. In the meantime, if you have questions or would like to discuss how or whether this transition might affect you, you are welcome to reach out.
